Frequently Asked Questions

Common signs that a proportional valve is failing?

Sluggish or delayed response, erratic positioning, pressure fluctuations.

Do you calibrate the valve electronics after performing a mechanical repair?

Yes.  We ensure that LVDT’s are tuned and then bench-tested. Our test stand confirms that the command signal provides flow/pressure outputs within specification.

Can you repair onboard electronics (OBE) directly on the valve?

Yes.  We can repair or replace damaged electronic componentry on PCB’s such as transistors, LVDT’s, MOSFET’s, solenoids, and we do complete cleaning. We inspect and repair damaged solder joints.

Can you source original OEM parts, or do you use aftermarket?

We use both OEM and aftermarket parts.  We will use aftermarket parts to improve performance and longevity for items such as ambient heat and vibration.

What brands and models do you support?

We support most brands.  Our most frequently repaired brands are Rexroth, Moog, Vickers, and Parker. We can also support Atos, Yuken, Tokimec, HydraForce, Continental, and Hydac.

Do I need to provide a purchase order before the repair can begin?

Yes, we need a purchase order or partial payment before we apply the cost to the repair.

What will my evaluation report tell me?

We will tell you if the valve and its components can be repaired or replaced to restore the valve to original specifications.  We will evaluate the following when applicable: Torque Motor, Nozzle Flapper, Spool and Body Assembly, Flexure Tube, seals, Electrical Connectors, Wiring, Amplifier Cards and componentry, LVDT, Filters, Poppets, and Seats.

Do I need to provide approval before you begin repairs?

Yes. After evaluating your component, we provide a repair quotation. No repair work is performed until you approve the quote with a purchase order.

What is your typical turnaround time for repairs?

For standard level repairs, our turnaround time is 2 weeks from receipt of the damaged valve.

How do I request a repair quote?

You can request a quote by completing our online quote request form or by contacting our team directly. Provide as much information as possible about your component, including the manufacturer, model number, and any symptoms you’ve observed. This helps us provide the most accurate response.

Do I need to know the exact part number before requesting a quote?

No, although it is useful. If you don’t have the complete part number, send us any information available, including photos of the nameplate or component. Our team can often help identify the unit.

Can I send my component in even if I’m not sure it can be repaired?

Yes. We evaluate components every day that customers are uncertain about. After inspection, we’ll let you know whether repair is possible and provide recommendations before any work begins. If it cannot be repaired, we’ll do our best to give you a quote for a new replacement component.

Do I need to send an electronic amplifier card with the valve for evaluation?

Yes, we highly recommend sending the on-board electronics along with the valve. The valve functions with the amplifier card, so it is required for us to have the original amplifier card.
